I?m in the middle of pickling cucumbers, and was wondering if gingers would be a good thing to have. Please give me some suggestion as to what other herbs that could be use/add into the recipe.

And, in Sep/Oct I will be picking onions & garlics (am not canning this year).

Currently I?m using:

1 - salt
3 ? sugar
4 - vinegar
4 ? water

per jar
1 ? bulb of garlic
2 ? teaspoon of crack peppers
a few red peppers
a few twigs of thymes

I want to add:
A few slices of gingers

Umm... you may want to change your title. I was thinking this was another 'All of you female AT'ers please checkin' kind of thread. Anyway, I know nothing of pickling so good luck.

I'm a lady but I hardly know anything about recipes. I can't even cook using the familiar definition of "cooking". So maybe you should change your title. You could miss many guys that know a lot about recipes. Many guys are familiar with stuff like that.

carrots, onions, serrano peppers if you like em hot. and cloves
Thanks for the suggestion. I don't like it too hot, but a few serrano peppers would be nice. I have never pickled carrots & will give it a try, and I never like cloves. My mom love it & the food some time taste like soap becasue she use too much cloves.

didnt realize only ladies knew this stuff...
Sorry for assuming, but I was the only guy that cook/can/pickling durring my college years.

But then he wouldn't be able to use this thread as an excuse to find out who all the female members are. 😀
