I would get whatever is cheapest. Usually those don't have anti-fog lenses though, which are a good thing to have. Typically the cheap Oakleys are good but don't have anti-fog lense IIRC.

I got a few nice pairs of goggles off of ebay for very little money. Check it out.

don't need them unless you face plant a lot, just get a pair of crokies for your sunglasses so you don't loose them.

they do come in handy when it's snowing.
other than that I don't see why you'd need em.

I use them because the wind burns my eyes. I prefer not squinting the entire time down the mountain. With that said, I think any pair of goggles will do, mine are at least 8 years old, cheap, and they work fine.

I wouldn't even want to snowboard without goggles. Wind and/or snow in your face as you're flying down the mountain sucks. And I'd break sunglasses pretty quickly... though if you're more of an easy-going freeride person then you don't fall too much.

my eyes start tearing like crazy from the wind, no matter what sunglasses i use because none ever make a good seal with my face.

i prefer goggles, hands down.

i have a pair of scott and a pair of smith goggles. both are fine. both around $20.
