Need SSD... but in IDE

I have an old-ish tablet PC (HP TC1100 to be exact) whose IDE drive died recently. If I want to replace it with an SSD, what are my options?

Also, are there adapters that will let me use SATA drives and are small enough to use in laptops? Thanks in advance.

i am in similar boat, the short of it is, you cannot do it.

There are some crappy jmicron SSD that have IDE, but the jmicron controller is so bad that you are better off with a regular spindle drive. Which is why I am simply gonna have to make do with a spindle drive in my laptop, I suggest you do the same.

Thanks for the replies. However, a month later, Runcore still isn't shipping their SSD's.
I'm ok with slower speeds; I mostly need an SSD for reading PDF files. Any other options?

.PDFs? That doesn't make sense unless they are incredibly large files.

hp 2730p with intel X18-m are often found in the hp business outlet.

pull 250mb/s reads. slower LV 1.86 dual core but with 3gb and that hella fast gen-1 X18-m it does quite a good job. real wacom digitizer none of that crap n-trig.

I'd use a "professional" CF card with an adapter. Those professional cards are usually with SLC memory and therefore last longer even if the wear leveling algorithm isn't well written (the biggest challenges in SSD).

SanDisk Extreme IV, Lexar, Kingston with speed 300x and above are all good.

Disclaimer: I work for SanDisk
