this is a question for anyone who can help me out.

heres the situation:
theres 2 computers, 2 monitors, 2 mice, 2 keyboard.
we want, 2 computers, 2 monitors, 1 mouse, 1 keyboard.

the problem:
1 of the computers is usb only, there is no ps2 ports.

the solution:
i need a kvm switch that has both usb and ps2 abilities.
i need to switch between a usb only machine and a ps2 machine.
both machines have usb ports, but one of the machines has usb only, no ps2.

i did find this kvm switch, do you guys think this will work?

from the switch, you have 2 video, 2 usb. for control, you use ps2 mouse and keyboard.

That only supports one monitor - the 2 monitor leads you see in the picture are to connect to the 2 base units.

Perhaps one way round the problem might be to use 2 kvms - that one in addition to another with an actual button to switch on the kvm (the one you linked to seems to be a hot key switching model). You would press the hotkey and the button on the other kvm to switch.

well, i guess having 2 monitor support isnt really needed.

one of the machines is an anti-baby theft monitor, it displays an alarm system/security layout.

i guess what i mean is, i need a switch that will work with a usb only machine, and also a ps2 machine, single monitor or not.

if you can get past the two-monitor thing, you can certainly use a ps2 kvm switch with a usb-only computer with the right adapter that only costs a couple of bucks. i haven't tried the other direction, though i have used a usb mouse on a ps2 only machine with an adapter as well.

we have prolly 20-30 ps2 kvm switches, we bought some usb to ps2 adapters and it did not like the relay action between the adapter. :(

so our only choice now, is to try this iomega kwm switch.

thats an idea. there's USB to Ps2 adapters available for keyboards and mice. if you already have a kvm, try it; if you dont, find a kvn you like, get a hold of the make/model #, find the manu's web site, get their sales/customer service # (should be toll free), call them and ask if you can use a USB mouse or keyboard with a USB to ps2 adapter on their product!

at least you wont have to go through the hassel of buying it all (if you cant find a kvm supporting USB) and trying to return it!

HA HA
:(
i was really slow on my reply and you reposted!
let us know if the/how the iomega works!
