Need source for "basic" networking class

Anyone have any ideas for where to learn something like Fundamentals of Networking? The people needing the class are familiar with PCs but know nothing about networking. All they need to learn is the basics in order to be able to work with some new network-based equipment (not PCs) - IP addressing scheme, subnet mask, ping, troubleshooting, etc.

All the classes I've found are too long and too detailed. Delivery mechanism can be anything - well-written book, self-teaching CD, online, whatever.

I was looking for a classroom setting hoping that would allow some hands-on work but no one offers something like a one-day class which should be all it takes.

Any ideas appreciated.

If you want basic, what is wrong with Networking for Dummies.

Network+ book is good, too.
