i have a section of my basement that is unfinished, bare studs, open ceiling etc.
the furnace and hot water heater are back there, along with storage , and most importantly, my PC's workshop and servers/etc.

the fan noise is starting to get noticeable in the rooms adjacent and the room above.

so i want to put something between the studs/against the back side of the drywall and up in between the floor joists (the ceiling of my "Cave") to dampen the sound

i figure normal fiberglass insulation will be cheapest, but what are my alternatives?
i don't want to spend big $ , but i need to muffle the sound a bit

thanks

to make a silencer...2liter coke bottle + egg crate foam material that you put on top of matresses.

fire it once to clear a path.

now you're using it for deer hunting, right?

Whatever you do, DON'T use polyurethane foam. It's a cheap soundproofing material, but it's also very flammable.
