Need Sound Card for RECORDING

Hey all

I need a sound card for the pc for recording of audio/music. Probably it would be best as a break out box. I.E. not an Audigy 2 or variation thereof.

Price range would be best at $150.

What are the options?

I think at your price range, you're pretty much looking at EMU or a low end M-Audio card. What host sequencing program will you be running? Also what kind of outboard gear do you need to interface with? Do you have a mixer? Digital? Analog? Preamps?

Thanks for the quick response.

Essentially my friend wants to mic. a 30 watt amp. He's a budding musician that just needs something to create demos with.

Acid pro is the program being used.

He was looking at M-Audio's Delta 44 Pro

Any idea?
