Hey there people, I am getting frustrated in my search for a new sound card. See, this weekend I decided to build my first home theatre system. I got some nice speakers(M&K 750 MKII THX Select) and a decent receiver(Denon AVR-1802), but now I want to output my pc to my receiver as well. Right now, I've got my MX300 in there, but it is showing it's age, and I want to do Dolby 5.1. I usually run either Win2k or WinXP. The Creative Audigy series looks really good, but I'm confused about what the differences are between the Gamer, Platinum, etc. Also in the running are the Game Theatre XP, Accoustics Edge, and the Santa Cruz. Price isn't a big deal, I just want it to sound good, with as little problems as possible. Thanks for the help smart people!

Well on the creative, as far as differences between the audigy gamer and platnium I don't think there are... maybe I'm wrong. But with the the platnium you get that front panel breakout box. If gives you all sorts of funn little plugs on there, optical in and outs, a firewire port, microphone in and headphone out... spdif in and out... I'm not sitting in front of mine right now to tell you the rest, but you get the idea. The audigy platnium ex is just like the platnium, except it's box is external, connected to the sound card much like a game theater xp.

IMO, I would go with the game theater xp, but because it has more outputs and in put so that it would be easier to connect to your computer.

hope I helped a bit.
