Need someone to explain to me laptop memory

I have a Thinpad T20, and recently purchased memory from this site. Put it in, and it didn't work. This memory I bought are 16x16. I don't know exactly what that means. I called the company back, and he said I need 16x8 modules. But then there are 32x8? I am really confused. What do the numbers mean? And how do I know which ones to buy?

High density ram? I have a T20 and I think it uses the mobile BX chipest, BX doesn't support highdensity ram. I just bought a right module from crucial (selected Thinkpad T20 from their selector thing)

16x8 should be double-sided 128MB
16x16 should be single-sided 128MB

I could be wrong....

Yeah, that sounds right.

Basically it is the chip density, some mobos don't like high density RAM.

You should have clicked the Crucual.com link at the top-left of this page. They have a memory-selector that works by the exact laptop model.
