I got a Voodoo 5500 PCI problem. Less graphically intense games like Half-Life, Anchronox, and the Windows D3D cube demo work fine, but new stuff like Serious Sam, Quake III, and Empire Earth lock up as soon as they start rendering a scene. This happens on a 810 based Celeron 700 and a KT266 based Athlon system but the card works fine on a LX based Celeron 366. The IRQ is 11 shared by ACPI Holder for PCI IRQ Steering, and I can't modify the settings. Help! Thanks.

I recently upgraded from a V5 5500 PCI, and the only issues I had were with RTCW (Wolfenstein) and also with Win2k. Things rendered funny in Win2k with the last WHQL drivers; there were fixes for it, but I didn't bother looking and just went back to Win98SE/WinME.

That's odd that Quake3 has problems, I had no probs at all with Win98SE (and actually got very nice benchmark scores with frames ~140fps at 1024). For RTCW however, I had to use the WickedGL drivers, so you may want to try that as well for OpenGL. Never tried Serious Sam, but its a newer game that may have some of the same OpenGL issues like RTCW. I don't think its a setting problem, but rather a driver/API issue. Check www.voodoofiles.net for possible fixes, or grab the latest WickedGL drivers.

[sarcasm] well....wild guess, but maybe its because your V5 was actually a Mac model that you flashed? [/sarcasm]
