Need some vaction help for a trip from Illinois to North Carolina.

I got a few questions about a trip I'm planning next week. Just looking for usefull input

1. Decent places to visit along the way? Right now I'm planning on maybe Nashville, TN for a night. Supposedly its a "hip" town with things to do. Dont have to go "site-seeing" but looking for decent places to stop at. Kinda just to blow a few days out of town with my girlfriend. We're only welcome in NC for 2 days, as my father has to work all week out of town, and we both are using a full week of vacation.

2. Anything special I should do with my car before going out of town/putting on thousands of miles? I plan on at least getting my oil changed as its due for one anyways.

3. Whats a trusted website for booking hotels? I'm not looking for anything fancy as budget is semi-low. But I dont plan on staying in cheap motels.

Any other travel tips? Driving will be super easy.

Check your tire pressure and make sure your spare is good. If you know what town u will be in and what night, priceline (and all the other big sites) are ptreey good w/ hotel prices.

NC mountains are awesome....billtmore estate? ashville and the blue ridge parkway are really cool, as are the beaches of NC. I live in NC...so i'm a little partial🙂

Where do you live?

<--Gboro here

<--- Durham here.

Stop in Memphis and have a plate of ribs.
Stop in Asheville, or Boone, NC. The first has the Biltmore, and the second has built-like-brick-sh!thouses (Western Carolina University girls).

Stop in Greensboro and say hello to tweakmm. And ask him to take you to a good BBQ joint. Or a strip club.

Too early for baseball and too cold for the beach but the bars are full of cute girls that'll listen to your traveling tales. Especially if ask them to be a part of your story!

You actually have the school wrong, App State is in Boone. WCU is in Cullowhee.

North Carolina was cool when I went there. A friend and I camped in the mountains in January...which was quite cold. We spent a few days in the Great Smokey Mountains. Even if you don't camp there its cool to at least see as admission to the park is free.
