Need some used lappy recomendations

I just got rid of my Omnibook 510 (similar to IBM X series.) A great little machine that I would recomend to anyone, battery life wasn't that great though.

I would really like a 13" screen (maybe a 14" if I could find something in a 12"x9"x1.25")
Must have trackpoint.
No more than 5.5lbs.
I'm not adverse to no optical drive.
CPU must be some flavor of Pentium M.

My budget limit is $600.
I havn't found anythinat that meets my hardware requirements, I think the closest are Thinkpad T40 (really hard to get this in budget), HP/Compaq NC6000, and Dell D600.

Any suggestions?

Pentium M's have been around for about 2 years or so. They've been through three major iterations:

Banias -- 130nm fab, 1MB L2 Cache, 400MHz FSB; original 855 chipsets

Dothan -- 90nm fab, 2MB L2 Cache, 400MHz FSB, improved branch predictor, improved power saving features; continued on 855 chipsets

Dothan on Sonoma -- same CPU exactly, 533MHz FSB; 915 chipsets

OP: Again, $600 is too low. Here is the cheapest Pentium M Certified Used T-series:

Dell Direct has refurb notebooks, might find something there.

I would go for a used Thinkpad or HP way before a Dell though.........

you're asking for a pentium 3 with 600 USD

put win 2K on an IBM p3 and you've got yourself some very decent performing laptop.

To my knowledge, Dell and IBM are the only ones offering TrackPoints. So no. Your options are an IBM X-series (12"), IBM T or R series (14"), Dell Latitude 14", Dell Latitude 12"

Toshiba and HP also do.

I think I've exhausted my options, I think its comming down to one of the following:

HP Compaq nc6000
HP Compaq nc4000
Dell Latitude D600
Dell Latitude x300
IBM Thinkpad T40

In reality I think the 2 HPs and Dell D600 are probably the ones I will end up looking the most at.

I wish people other than Sony offered a 13" screen that isn't a budget version of a 14" machine. The Dells are built a bit more flimsy and don't have as good battery life as the HPs and IBMs, but the HPs are bulkier. I guess each has it's own trade off.

To bad a Thinkpad T40p is out of my price range, it would be great.
