First off, here are my system specs:

P3 1Ghz
384mb 700mhz ECC Rambus RAM
Visiontek 64mb GeForce2 Ultra
SB Live Value
IBM Deskstar 75gb ATA66 (7200rpm)
Windows 98se

I know it sounds like I shouldn't be bitching, but I paid an assload for this system 10 months ago and i just freakin KNOW I should be getting better performance out of it. I just recently upgraded to the GF2 Ultra to squeeze some more frames out of it. (I had a V5 5500 previously). My 3d Mark 2001 scores are around 1360 or so and that just seems incredibly wrong.

When I run Tribes2,in OpenGL, my performance is pretty weak. @ 1024x768, I get anywhere from 20fps to 60fps outside in the world. Details are not maxed; about 3/4 of the way. The system certainly seems fast, but this 3dMark score is freakin me out. I have a bunch of friends with lesser systems than I who are getting nearly 3 times the scores that I'm getting in the default settings. V-sync is disabled and I'm not using FSAA at all... I've tried the Geforce Tweaking Utility (GTU) and futzed with those settings and saw little or no increase in my scores. This is really bumming me out. Can any of you gurus help my sad a$$ out?

Yikes, 3D Mark scores are definitely WAY low. I get around 3100 on my PIII 700@933 and GeForce2 GTS Pro. What drivers are you using? I'm running Nvidia's 11.01 reference drivers.

Not really sure what to tell you other than that. Maybe someone else can help you out...

Doh... Forgot a few bits of information. Yes, I'm using the same drivers as you, 11.01, and am running DirectX 8.0a. I have absolutely no ideas.

I assume you got some kind of intel 8XX chipset since you got rdram. Have you installed the intel chipset drivers? If not, get them now!

Yup make sure you have the latest vGART drivers to go along with whatever chipset you are running.

Oh my freakin God....

I had never thought about Intel's chipset drivers. (820 chipset, btw) I installed them and guess what... Nearly doubled my score. W0000t! All of the framrates in the test were over doubled and my score ended up being 3183.

I love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 😀 🙂

Thank you SOOO much!
