Seems Trillian is playing the user signing on message when a user comes back from Away. I can't seem to find a way to disable it. Any help?

Now to help Naka Naka, my only suggestion would be to mess around with the advanced settings under Preferences, Events. There is a tab labeled "Advanced" which will allow you to change what event triggers which type of response (ie, make a sound, run a program, open a chat window, etc). Hope you find what you're looking for.

PS, on the preferences list, the first selection is Basic Options. Once in Basic Options, there is a check box at the bottom right labeled "Send Anonymous Usage Statistics". Mine was checked by default, you may want to see if your's is checked, I don't really care to provide "anonymous" statistics to anyone.
