So I plan on going to microcenter tomorrow to pick up a new monitor. I am currently have a 22" 1680x1050 and want to upgrade to a 1080p. I have a budget of about $150.

Can you guys give me some tips on what to look for as far as specs? Like what is the best:

Response Time
Brightness
Color Support
etc, etc, etc

Im not really sure what the best specs are. Thanks.

It is best to read reviews. The stats listed on the side of the box are not tested in a industry standard way, so some manufacturers can stretch the truth when it comes to response time, contrast ratios, etc.

what's your primary usage breakdown? gaming? movies? office work?

IPS panels are typically the most well rounded. There are several around your price range.

they'll probably have the dell u2312hm which is a well reviewed and pretty widely sold monitor.

the "specs" that are listed aren't that helpful.
My primary use is gaming. I also will be be doing some web browsing and general usage. Nothing that requires HD other than gaming.
