Need some tech support for new video card setup. 7850 crossfire.

So I decided to add another 7850 to my pc, but for some reason I cannot get CCC to enable crossfire.

Both my cards appear in gpu-z. Ive tried 2 different crossfire bridges. Ive uninstalled catalyst drivers via catalyst removal tools, and by normal software removal tools. Reinstalled new catalyst 13.8 beta. Tried 13.4.

Tried the crossfire bridge frontwards and backwards, lol. Tested both video cards individually, in both slots...

Basically I have the option in ccc to choose to enable crossfire graphics, and I click enable, and nothing happens. I jump into heaven4.0 bench to see if maybe it is working, but it just shows 1 card in the top right corner, and bench's like 1 card. GPU-Z shows both cards working when I do the pci-x render test, and they both seem to be working, and heating up, so I dunno....

I'm not sure what I'm missing. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if it'll cure your issue or not but I've had to do the following before to get a single card working during my overclocking adventures. Might be worth a try and see. Looks time consuming but goes pretty quick. If you come to a item and it's not there just move on as the list is a little dated.

1. Go to Add/Remove Programs
2. Uninstall the Catalyst Install manager (Express Uninstall)
3. Reboot the computer and log back into windows as normal
4. Go to folder options and select “show hidden files and folders”
The next part of the guide will remove all ATi/AMD files and folders from the computer.
5. Go to your C drive and remove the “AMD” folder
6. Double click the “Program Data” folder (Normally hidden) and remove all ATi/AMD folders
7. Go back to C and double click “Program Files” and remove all ATi/AMD folders
8. Go back to C and double click “Program Files (x86)” and remove all ATi/AMD folders
9. Go back to C and double click “Users”
10. Access the name of your windows profile and double click “AppData” (Normally hidden)
11. Check the “Local”, “LocalLow” and “Roaming” folders for any ATi/AMD folders and remove them.
12. Go back to “Users” and check the “Default” folder (Normally hidden)
13. Double click “AppData” (Normally hidden)
14. Check the “Local” and “Roaming” folders for any ATi/AMD folders and remove them.
The next part of the guide will remove registry entries left by the AMD drivers.
15. Close everything down and go back to your desktop
16. Click start, then type “regedit”.
17. Click “HKEY_CURRENT_USER” and extend the folder
18. Click “Software” and extend the folder
19. Remove all AMD and ATi Folders
20. Click “Wow6432Node” and extend the folder (Within the software folder)
21. Remove the “AMD” folder
22. Click “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE” and extend the folder
23. Click “SOFTWARE” and extend the folder
24. Remove all AMD and ATi Folders
25. Click “Wow6432Node” and extend the folder
26. Remove all AMD and ATi Folders
27. Click “HKEY_USERS” and extend the folder
28. Click “.DEFAULT” and extend the folder
29. Click “Software” and extend the folder
30. Remove all AMD and ATi folders
31. Click “S-1-5-18” and extend the folder
32. Click “Software” and extend the folder
33. Remove all AMD and ATi folders
34. Click “S-1-5-21-1632250243-966907716-928185508-1000” and extend the folder
35. Click “Software” and extend the folder
36. Remove all AMD and ATi Folders
37. Close down regedit and empty your recycle bin
38. Undo the folder options change to hide the hidden folders
39. Reboot
40. Install your AMD/Nvidia drivers and reboot

Right now I'm willing to give anything a try, lol.

*edit

Well, went through that whole list, but still no luck :( This is what I see in ccc/gpuz. Everything look right?

Bump for more ideas?

Are you running Heaven 4.0 in a window? Crossfire won't work windowed.

Have you tried it in any games? From my experience with HD7800 Crossfire, I'm pretty sure your Crossfire is working, as CCC would otherwise have the enable option grayed out.

GPU-Z shows crossfire IS enabled. If you are still seeing performance problems, you may be CPU bottlenecked.

Calling toyota...

edit: right, a 3570K, probably not bottle-necked unless throttled or under-clocked.

*Facepalm*

Ya, I just actually tested it out in a real game, and the difference was staggering.

Forgot to use fullscreen on Heaven, and the other benchmark I was using was an older FFXIV one, that didn't have crossfire support yet.

Well, I guess we live and learn.

Thanks again for all the help!

Here's some bench's to show improvement. I'm running everything bone stock, so I'm definitely not trying to break any 7850 records, lol. I'm sure this doesn't translate to actual real in game improvement, but I've been happy so far, and don't regret my decision on going xfire. Seems like a decent enough improvement for 140$, what can I say? I'm just curious now if it can handle games well enough to get a 2560x1440 monitor. *crosses fingers*

Yeah, haha, maybe so. The problem is I tend to get into an OC'ing craze, blow money on random crap to peak my performance, and then a month later go back to stock. I recently went crazy with an all Thermalright fan/ Macho rev-a heatsink setup thats just kind of going to waste, lol. Fortunately, it's insanely quiet. And that's with 2 - 120mm fans in front, 2 -140mm fans on the heatsink, and another 120mm exhaust. And I have to hold my head about 4 inches from my case to even hear it. The video card fans are about all I can hear, when they're under a good load. Thermalright seriously makes crazy good parts. This pic is a little old and doesn't show the 140 fan on top, or my new video card.

talk about going crazy with OCing. I do the same. Went from a Hyper 212+ Push/Pull to 2x 240mm Radiators w/4x 120mm, 1x 140mm, & 1x 40mm Fans custom watercooling on CPU & GPU

Haha, Nice! The last time I ran a watercooling setup was back in the old pentium4 days. I had a 2.4ghz Prescott (notoriously hot chips) running at 4ghz. Also had an old Radeon 9800pro in the loop as well. Was bustin out some mad Quake fps, lol. Ahhhhh, those were the days....
