Hello all.

A friend of mine is setting up a new system and is getting BIOS erors all across the board.

Setup is as follows:

Asus P4S800D-X Mother Board w/ BIOS rev. 1006.002
Pentium 4, 3.20ghz, 800mhz
& one gig of RAM that's made up of 4 different sticks brands. All 512 and the same specs but none are the same manuf.

Anyhoo, the system boots up and displays a long list of error messages and then does not boot to windows vista.

Any ideas right of the top that I could try? Or notice any glaring mistakes? Thanks...

Using 4 different DIMMs in one mobo is a recipe for disaster. I suggest that you start with one DIMM only, run memtest, if it completes the test without errors add another DIMM run memtest again and so on. At least this way you can rule the memory out.

You can download memtest 1.70 from here : http://www.softpedia.com/progD...us-Download-13000.html

If you get BIOS errors with 1 stick only then this is definitely bad news.

ok... he went and bought 2 1 gig sticks of corsar mem and still has the same looong list of BIOS errors. I'll see if I can post em a little later on.

Thanks for the reply.
