I have a DFI Ultra D (Nforce 4) mobo, the chipset fan (north bridge) has been dying so I decided to replace it with the recommended Evercool Twinkling gpu fan.
I tore the whole system apart, removed the old chipset/fan, scraped all the old crud off with a credit card and 90% Isophyl alcohol. I installed the new fan with Arctic Silver Ceramique, after I clicked the fan in I noticed I should of turned it around for better wire run, but the wire reach the header and isn't getting hung up anywhere.
After booting it up and running for 45 minutes I noticed something is smelling hot or maybe it's becuase the part is new, but I've never come across anything smelling after putting it together.
I checked all the temps, everything is in range CPU is 39 C, Chipset evens out to around 45 C I checked and double checked everything, I just can not figure out what could be going wrong, in any case I've had it off till I can figure out a solution.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
