Need some suggestions for Tasmania

I'll be in Australia for two months, June and July. I planned for two full days in tasmania (plus about half the day I arrive, but I'll be wasted from the flight), staying in Hobart.

I've been looking around for some ideas on what to do there and I'm not turning up a whole lot, so I appeal to the infinite knowledge of atot. I have a general idea, so any specific suggestions would help, especially if you've been there. Thanks

That does look interesting, looks like it would take most of one day. I'm not looking to do anything too strenuous though given I'll be adjusting to the 18hr time difference and a long flight...but I guess I'm used to not getting much sleep these days, heh

Go Sailing/yachting

Visit the Forests.

Go Fishing.

Visit antartica?

Tasmania is a very "natural" "reserve park" kinda place. The water is really fresh so go sailing and go fishing. theres also a sydney to hobart yacht race but dunno when that is.

Sign up for one of the bike tours that takes you to the top of the local mountain (can't remember name). Visit the casino. Walk around town. It was nice and cozy when I was there. Didn't do too terribly much. Just relaxed.

Visit Antartica? That's thousands of miles away. Bit hard for a two day stay.

Go up Mt. Wellington, it's quite the view on a clear day, if you had more time i'd hit the West Coast around Strahan and take a cruise. Cradle Mountain would be nice as well, but you be there in the winter ,it'll be cold...so perhaps Port Arthur and/or Salamanca Market or have a beer at the Pickled Frog

Cradle Mountain and area is brilliant. When my wife and I were in Australia for a year, we spent nearly a month on Tasmania in our campervan and I LOVED it. We did the Overland Track as part of that time, and it was spectacular.

Right in and around Hobart we didn't do too much because we were pretty wiped from the hike. We did do a couple of pretty long walks around the town, and took in a concert downtown, and there are a couple of cool flea/art markets downtown on the weekends too.

We also travelled to the extreme south-west (and north-west and north-east for that matter) corner, and it was wild. We wanted to do a hike there, but lacked the funds to get flown in to start Port Arthur was pretty cool, but was a full-day to get to and from and experience. The best thing we did there was a night-time ghost tour. I'm not generally one to get freaked out at that sort of stuff, but I admit I had goosebumps on my goosebumps a couple of times.
