So I recently found out the wonders of being able to run your own TS3/Mumble servers, non-commercially of course. Problem is, I want to run it at least 12/7, and obviously I won't be doing that with my primary computer. I'm just looking for a very very small server pc. It can come pre-installed with windows or linux, either one is fine. If it's not a pre-built and doesn't come installed with anything, i'm going to be using linux. In this case if that were to happen, any recommendations on the motherboard/case mini itx combo? I'm not looking to spend a lot of money here. The teamspeak server is just for my guild and I. Max amount of players we have on the teamspeak at any given point is probably 15, and I have tested my network over the recent nights with everyone on. I have 0 increase in lag when I do this, and their ping is very average, so we know that's not an issue. It's just what we're going to run it on is the question.

My HP Microserver N54L has been very reliable for me. TD had them for $200 not to long ago.

Acer makes some nice mini-ITX prebuilt desktops that are small and quiet, for $250-400 depending on model.

The $180 ECS Livi is fanless and its atom might be fast enough for 15 people:

I wonder if those 1 GB / sub-$100 Windows tablets are fast enough? If TeamSpeak is the only thing it's running they might be.

A $200 - 300 laptop is another idea, if you have any use for one.

Thanks Dave, I'll probably go with the ECS one later on if I don't decide on something else. On another note, not that I am soon, but I may do something similar on my main computer just for fun. What kind of dedicated server do you think you would need to run, say, a ~25-30 person garry's mod server? Definitely a lot more, but I just need an estimate of how much that could cost. Preferably custom build in that case, since upgrades would be more viable.

How about the BayTrail D J1900 / J2900?

Embedded boards can be had from Newegg at ~$60 and up.

You can get a whole J1900 computer from Wal Mart for under $300 also.
