As some of you may remember, I was contemplating replacing my 21" CRT that took a lightning hit with a LCD, but after much consideration, I've decided it's just going to be best for me to replace it with a 21" CRT. I have no idea what to even look for in one, so I'm open to suggestions.

I'll be using it for TV Viewing (with my Wintv card), gaming, DVDs, and some web design / photoshop work. Physical size is slightly important, but as long as it's not bigger then the one it's replacing (which shouldn't be hard, considering the age of my old 21" monitor) I'll be happy. Cost isn't much of an issue, but I'll be paying the $250 deductible on my insurance, so I'd like to get my moneys worth.

What do you guys suggest?

Well, I didn't really want to spend over $900 on it (so I guess cost IS an issue), because I've got to buy it outright, then submit the paperwork to the insurance company to get reimbursed. I don't want to take the chance they'll deny my request because they don't see it as a "similar model"

Not sure of exact prices in USA but Samsung 1200NF or the new IIYAMA Vision master Pro 512 would be a good start, they are aperture grill type btw.

Well, if price is an issue try finding CRT Guy on Ebay. I bought a 17" and a 20" Dell trinitron used from him with a full 3 year warranty. They were both in brand new condition, the 20" had a manufactured date less than 1 yr old, it was $299 shipped six months ago. He also has 21" available too. I was a little leary of the deal even though the reviews in Ebay went on about how great CRT Guy was. The shipping was fast, and the monitors look fabulous, perfect in every way.

Mitsubishi 2060u..... Keep checking techbargains dot com for coupons from DELL. The monitor was down to $680 with free shipping about a month ago, right now it's at $748 with free shipping. It does everythign the Sony GPD520 does, but IMO a little better. (However the Sony is still a Killer choice, which is at mwave.com for $655 btw) Anyway, just another option.

Good luck!!
