NEED SOME SERIOUS HELP...lost my business books do to Linux!!!

ok, i bought a new Asus EEE PC last week and was using the installed linux os to do my work until i put XP on it. I was using the pre installed versions of the linux "OpenOffice.org" to do my business scheduling and saved all my files on that OS. Now, i have XP on the EEE PC and none of the files will open, and when they do, its just encoded nonsense.

Im hoping there is some way to still open these files and then save them in the correct format, otherwise...well i dont even want to think what would happen if i lost all my books and upcoming scheduled events. All my contacts, etc, were in there and i updated my backup files with these new ones too, so now im really screwed!

If i need to send any of these files to people for them to recover, thatd be awesome as well.

Please help me,
Kevin

im now thinking that they just got corrupted some how, because i downloaded openoffice.org and theyre still corrupted and cant open properly. Does anyone know of a way to fix these files and bring them back to life?
