I fubared my registry accidentally and now I cannot open applications at all. If someone would kindly post the contents of the exported key of the HKEY ROOT CLASS
of the whole of what is under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\ I'd be greatful.

I believe that's the registry setting that got deleted by ad-aware and caused this mess to begin with... sigh.

adaware only deletes what you tell it to delete

Instead of mucking around with the Registry, why don't you use System Restore to go back to a save point before you made the changes?

Adaware shouldn't have damaged any registry entries itself. What probably happened is you had a really nasty spyware app like CoolWebSearch that inserted itself into the registry in such a manor that it's removal damaged your registry.

I've found Adaware to be a bit careless in this regard. For this and several other reasons Adaware has been off my radar for 8 months now. I use Microsoft Anti-Spyware or Webroot's SpySweeper when cleaning client's systems.

I believe the default process in Adaware is to back up the last action you performed (you can manually add additional backups). If you click the "Backups" button on the first screen in Adaware, you can restore whatever you deleted - assuming the date of the file is the same date as the last action you performed (which is what you're stating is the date your problem occurred).

Edit: You should always opt to backup before you make any changes in your registry.
