I pretty much have my new rig built, except for the PSU. I've been out of the loop for a few years now (since I last built my current rig) and am not sure about what's good out there now. Was reading reviews for lots of PSU's, but since the PSU is a key component when building, I didn't want to just throw a random one I liked in my wish list... so here I am asking you guys.

Some things to consider:

CPU: Q6600
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P (Note: This board has an 8 pin power connector on it.)
RAM: 4GB G. Skill
Video: EVGA 9800 GTX+

I will be overclocking the CPU, so keep that in mind. Also -- come Christmas time I will probably ask for another 9800 GTX+ to run in SLI. This is where I get stuck. What would be an efficient PSU to handle 2 GTX+'s in SLI? Does anyone have any experience with this? Any advice appreciated guys, thanks.

Thanks for the list. Though looking at the PC P&C 750W, it says that it is recommended for Dual 8800 GTX and below. I might just have to go higher wattage PC P&C, because I have not heard anything bad about these things.

You forget something. Your motherboard does not support SLI. Imo, the price of a new PSU + a 9800gtx+ and your old 9800gtx should be enough to buy a single gtx280 instead. You won't have the hasle of SLI, microstuttering and bad scaling. Granted, 9800gtx+ in SLI can beat a GTX280 performance wise. But since your mobo doesn't even support it, I think it's something you should forget about.

What resolution you playing at anyways?

If you still insist on going SLI, then go crossfire instead :D You're mobo can run Crossfired videocards. And 2 HD4850's will be equally fast as two 9800gtx+ videocards. Recommended PSU ? Pretty much any decent PSU with 2 6pin pci-e connectors. 600w will do. I would skip the PCP&C 750w, they are a bit loud. I'd rather go for a corsair 750tx, or this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817171024 which is so cheap, it's not even funny.

LOL yeah I glossed over his post and didn't even catch that.

Besides that though the 9800GTX+ doesn't use much more power than the 8800GTX, so any PSU capable of 8800GTX SLi is capable of 9800GTX+ SLi.

We are talking about a 90nm G80 GPU in the 8800GTX versus a 55nm G92b GPU in the 9800GTX+
