Alrighty kids here's the deal:
I've got a great legacy PC that I just don't want to get rid of, but I need some informed help in the RAM department.
First, PC mobo specs: Shuttle SS56G v3 w/ a 3.4 Ghz Prescott chip running 800 Mhz FSB. Just put a x1950Pro 512 AGP card in it - SWEET!
I had 2x512 sticks of off brand junk in there and recently upgraded to 2x1GB sticks of off brand junk. I was sold 2 sticks of DDR400 PC3200 ram. At first boot, it didn't really like the ram, but after some manual config, I have it booting consistently as DDR400 but it doesn't live happily at this speed.
I know this stuff is junk, and I need to get some better stuff, so brand recommendations please? I haven't kept up with what's good out there, so enlighten me. Where do I look at get the best 2GB of ram possible to extend the life of my little Shuttle one more year.
TIA
KC
