Need some quick shipping help.

I live in Canada, I am shipping some ram to the US today, I just wanted to know if there is anything I can do to minimize costs. Do you americans get charged for customs? If so, how do I avoid this?
Any help is appreciated.

I believe that customs charges are levied (at least the last time I bought software from a Canadian source, there were some customs charges included). Use FedEx or Airbourne and handle it however they suggest.
