Hiyo, Looking to pick up one stick of 512MB RAM in a couple hours. It will be single channel, since I don't see the point in spending an extra 40 CDN for 2-3% increase in performance (Will be grabbing a mobile XP 2500+). I just need some advice on RAM, it will most likely be OCZ. Mostly like 512MB (will get another 512 later when i could afford it). My options for OCZ ram are as follows:

- 512Mb DDR466 Rev2 Gold Edition (2.5-3-3-7) (EL Special Edition) - $230
- 512Mb DDR400 Platinum Edition (2-2-3-5) (EL Special Edition) - $220
- 512Mb DDR433 (2.5-3-3-7) (Performance Series) - $184
- 512Mb DDR433 (2-3-3-7) (EL) - $232
- 512Mb DDR433 (2.5-3-2-8) (Enhanced Bandwidth) $245

Looking to overclock just a bit over 200 and achieve around 2.4Ghz, that's why I only have one DDR 400, cus I'm pretty sure they won't be as stable as DDR433 and up. If you have any other OCZ options, let me know.

Thanks!

if you're overclocking "just a bit over 200" I bet the DDR400 would work just peachy if you upped the timings just a hair.

Of those choices, I'd probably get the DDR466, since the prices aren't that different (besides the DDR400)

Platinum Edition. Maybe even consider the 2-2-2 special edition coming out soon. Low latency is very important. Also, those platinums are rated 3.5ns which are the same ratings as the PC3700.

You won't need DDR466 if you are only overclocking a little..

How about the Enhanced Bandwidth DDR433. Would it serve me well over platinum edition and gold rev 2?

on those prices, I would pick the Performance series DDR433. Cheapest of em all and should be suffcient in O/Cing your mobile barton. Tighter timings wont have much of an effect considering the timings on these modules

anyay...

sorry for knowing so little about memory :(

but why is low latency important? whats significant about it? the time it takes to respond?

edit - i guess the question is, whats the point of 'enhanced latency' and another one being the purpose of 'enhanced bandwidth' ? im about to pick up two ocz sticks myself, so this is helpful :)

Hmm... if you want just a little over 200 you might want to try their "bargain" line, I believe it's called the "premiere" series. I got 2x512 @ Fry's for $160 AR... which is actually cheaper than any single stick that you listed. =P I'm running these at 217x11.5 prime95 stable on my 2600+ mobile.
