I am trying to decide between a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz or a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz on a an ASUS P5E LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard .

Which do you think will be better ?

Thanks

Panic,

Just do a simple search in the forums, this topic has been beaten and bludgeoned to death.

Yeah go around and read some forums.. It really depends on what you want to do. I say the quad core isn't worth the money quite yet..plus they put out some major heat. Id go with the C2D and OC it if you want even better performance.

Fast Duel Cores are still the way to go as far as I am concerned, the E8000 range is great, low heat build up, fast clock cycles and great for overclocking with little power consumption! I recently upgraded to a E8500 and couldn't be happier, I can even play Crysis with some settings on Very High, on High it is smooth ! This is at the stock 3.16 speed too!

Quads are overpriced, have a big heat buildup and for me just not worth it yet, not enough stuff uses it as it should.

If you're doing video/graphic editing then Quad cores are the way to go. Otherwise duals might be a better option.
