My wife and I just got to Dell machines and would like to upgrade the PSU's in them as we don't think the stock ones will be very stable with are gaming habits.

She is running with a BFG 6800 GT OC
Mine is a x1300

What you think is not always right.

Do you know it is not stable?

The E521 305w psu will handle a 7950GT/X1900XT without breaking a sweat.

The 250w in the 4600 will be adequate for the 6800GT. However if you want to replace it then you can pickup a standard psu since it is not proprietary.

@jpeyton I'm just basing the observation on two things I started in her old machine with a better Antec 2.0 500w 12v 30a PSU and then we removed it when we got the new rig and it still does the same thing so I assume* it's the card.

So, the PSU's in these two dells "should" be adequate enough for what we are doing, thats great to know. Thank you for your help....

I have a Dell 4550, which has a 250W PS, I think. Even with a modern video card, extra HD, etc, it hasn't shown any problem. I'd leave it alone.
