I recently just purchased a house and have a plumbing question. In my garage I have hookups and drain for a water softener, which I plan on purchasing soon. My question is, I would like to put a utility sink in my garage and want to know if I could tap into the water softeners hookups and drain for the water?

No
The water softener is hooked to your main line in.
You really want to tap into a hot and cold line, a little bit down further in the plumbing,
To have both for you're sink.
You ALSO have to have a drain.
How you gonna do that ??
Call a Plumber, got one in the family , or as a Friend ?
The drain for the softener would'n be enough for a sink, ( Usually )
My $.02 without looking.
ALSO remember the local codes when you'r doing this , you might need a permit, depending upon you're location
