Need some photoshopping help!

I was hoping someone could lend a hand. I need this imagephotoshopped up a bit. I was hoping to change the color of the face to black along with making the background of the pic transparent? We are using this image for our softball jersey and I dont want to have the excess white space outside of the image if at all possible. Thanks for any help you are able to offer!

Do you need it bigger for printing, too?

If so it would probably be better to re-do it in Illustrator...

There is the simple photoshopped version

Simply use the colorize (ctrl-U) or paintbucket feature. Then magnetic lasso around it, copy... New transparent image... paste. Save as PNG-24 or GIF (transparent). Done. 😀

I dont have photoshop or I would have gladly done it myself...

Doh, I forgot to make it a gif!

Here you go:

I just used the "selct the white with magic wand" >> New Layer >> Select, Inverse >> Edit, Fill, Black >> Select center, fill white >> save for web. I always find the lasso to be a total pain in the ass for some reason.
