Need some overclocking help...

Just built a 6600 with a badaxe2 mobo. Never really done any overclocking but I wanted to give it a try, so pardon the newb questions. I read through the forums and various "how to" guides and ended up with these settings:

Voltages:
FSB 1.4
Memory 2.2
MCH 1.6
CPU 1.45

I would adjust the FSB to 333 so I could try for to reach 3.0 ghz.

Every time I exit BIOS and try to load, it says the BIOS detected a bad post and do I wan to try again or enter BIOS.
I decided to dial it down and just overclock to 2.5 to see if I could get something going and it still gave me the error message. Is there anything else I need to be adjusting in BIOS? Anything at all? I feel like I'm missing something simple. This is my first overclock, but I can't make any progress whatsoever. Any help anyone could give would be great.

Oh, and another weird side effect, I restored my settings to what they were before so I could load up windows and now CPU-Z says I'm running at 1.6 GHZ instead of 2.4. Windows itself tells me 2.4 but it definately changed in the CPU-Z reading. Once again, sorry for the newbness of the questions, I just feel lost at this point.
Thanks.

try updating to the latest BIOS version if you have not already. That'd be my first start.

I did do that. I feel like my biggest problem is I've actually LOST speed. CPUZ continues to say I'm at a core speed of 1600 mhz with a multiplier of 6. This is not right, this should be at 2400 mhz with a multi of 9. I checked the BIOS and it has me at a muiltiplier of 9. This is so weird..it's really starting to piss me off.

Ok, I just got my first dual-core (E4400) this weekend but I have noticed something funky when using CPU-Z....

Try this:
1) Open CPU-Z
2) Run ORTHOS / Prime95 (or anything that loads your processor) --> Does CPU-Z tell you a different clock-speed now (multiplier jumps to 9) ??

Was the case for me.. Actual = 200x10, CPU-Z said 200x6 under idle conditions.

Is CPU-Z reporting actual clocks? If speedstep is running and you're not doing anything the actual clock/multiplier is lowered to save power.

There should be an option in the BIOS to shut off SpeedStep.

Check the RAM multiplier. Your RAM might not be able to run that high. My E6600 runs at 3.0GHz at 333FSB just fine. My RAM multiplier is 2.5x, and that's equal to 833MHz(I'm using 800MHz PC6400). Also, your CPU voltage seems to be a little high. Mine is at 1.35V.
