I have 2 comps, 1 is a win 95 machine with a network card, the other is a win2000 with a network card. I also have a hub.
I want to transfer files between the two, I can't seem to share directories or anything like that, anybody have any ideas? thanks

In 95 you need to turn on "Allow others to access my files" or something like that under the networking properties. That will let you share directories, and your 2000 box should be able to see things on the 95 box.

The other way around is a little more tricky, since 95 has no concept of domains. You'll have to share the files on the 2k box with guest permissions and I think there's something a little tricky about exactly what you have to do, since the 95 box won't try to connect the same way as another 2k box would. But the good news is that if you share a directory read/write on your 95 box, you should be able to move things back and forth without much trouble.

Disk
CD-R
Email it to yourself on one machine and check it on the other
Upload it to a web server on one machine and download it on the other

1) Make sure NetBEUI is installed on both machines
2) Connect both to the hub
3) Enable file & printer sharing on each system (will require a reboot)
4) Share a directory, or the whole HD, whichever you prefer. Set permissions on the 2K box to allow access to everyone.
5) Browse to the system via network neighborhood
6) Drag & drop

Like on network properties in each machine turn on file and printer sharing.

Right click on the directory you want to share and click the share button.

Sometime the win2k computer will not allow win9x machines to connect, so find the username of the win9x machine you use to login and create an account in win2k for that username.
