Anyone help me out here?

I have a small network setup, 4 systems, 2 of which are running XP, one is running 2K Server, and one is running 98.

the three running XP/2K all network fine, they can all see eachother and all that good stuff

but, the 98 system can't see any of the systems in network neighborhood... however if i do a computer search, it will find one of the XP systems, but none of the others.

I know the NIC works, because I can browse the net with it. I can also ping all three systems.

Any ideas? I reinstalled TCP/IP and Filesharing. Didn't help.

Is TCP/IP the only protocol you're running, or are you also running NetBEUI?

Are they assigned to the same workgroup?

Viper GTS

TCP/IP only

same workgroup

three of the 4 are DHCP, the server isn't

I'm tempted just to upgrade the 98 system to XP

ugh

don't install netbeui, install wins and assign the wins ip address to the win98 pc in the tcp/ip config and check ur DNS server that u have setup the foward and reverse lookup zones

me19562... you confused me a bit

i thought WINS was a part of TCP/IP?

also, what do you mean assign the 98box a WINS IP, wouldn't that require a WINS server?
