YAY!!! No more Massholes!! Anyways, as the title states, I'm moving. But I can't decide whether to buy a 6'x12' trailer to haul everything down in (being pulled by my truck) or to use a rental truck (Budget/Penske...no Uhaul) and tow my truck with a car carrier. The dollar saving leans to a rental truck by about $5-600, but I like the thought of having my own trailer for when I move again (July-Aug '05)

Cliff notes for the lazy:
Moving to FL
Personal trailer costs $2400, but I own it
Rental truck costs $1800
Will be moving 8-9 months later

Would you have a place to store a trailer if you bought one? Would you actually use the trailer again? Doesn't make sense to spend money on something like that if you're only going to use it once or twice. Besides, you have to register it and pay for upkeep on it (not that there is much upkeep on a trailer).

Edit-not to mention all your friends bugging you to help them move.

If you have a place to keep the trailer once you move....then yes, go for it!

Where is the next move going to be? I say go with the rental truck, as stated no sense in buying a trailer if your only going to use it once or twice and the possible have no place to store it. Wouldn't you rather put the mileage on someone elses vechile?

Either southest or southwest US. Not going to move back north (riding season is too short!!)

Cliff's notes for 3 lines. :(

On topic, since you're going to be moving again so soon, I'd say to buy a trailer. But only if, like Ravana said, you have a place to store it for the 8-9 months. Otherwise it may just be easier to rent a U-Haul for both moves.
