Hey guys, I'm new here. This looks like a great community, and I'm glad to have joined! Any who, in the next few weeks, I am going to buy the parts for my first ever custom build...and I need some advice on the motherboard. I'm torn on a few though, and would like pros/cons about them, and any suggestions of other solid boards.
I need to keep it under $200. Right now, I want my system to be able to run Flight Simulator X on high settings. SLI is not a huge necessity right now; while it would be nice to have the option for the future, I don't need it now. What I want now is a stable board that is good at overclocking. So, here are the ones I'm currently looking at:
1) ASUS P5Q Deluxe - $199.99 is really stretching my budget, but people seem to like it, and the thread above has positive things to say about it.
2) ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP - This board is the price I'm looking for, great reviews, and people on NewEgg say it's a pretty stable overclocker.
3) ASUS P5K-E - I've been looking at this one for a while. I hear great things, reviewers are saying it is a great overclocker as well. Great price.
4) ASUS P5N-D SLI - It is SLI, and while it isn't a big deal right now, the price is awesome. Seems like a solid board, reviewers say it overclocks easy, but after doing research, people in some forums say that it isn't a good board.
So, any suggestions would be great. My favorite out of the group would be the P5Q Deluxe, but if I can get a cheaper board that is comparable, I'd take a $150 board in a heartbeat.
And if it helps, here are the other components of the system: Wolfdale E8400, OCZ Reaper 4GB RAM, EVGA 8800GT 512MB, WD Caviar 250GB HDD, OCZ GameXStream 600W Power Supply, Vista Home Premium 64-bit...among others (sound card, case, monitor, etc).
