Need some memory, what do you recommend?

I need 4GB (2x2GB or 4x1GB) DDR2 to be able to reach DDR2-1000 at a max of 2.2V with times no worse than 5-5-5-15, with a minimal of cost, and nothing that will cook the inside of my case either. I don't mind overclocking, just need some recommendations that will reach the speed that I need.

This memory will be running on a Asus P5K-E mobo with an OC'ed Q6600, so 400FSB. Currently running 4GB of SuperTalent at DDR2-800 at 5-5-5-18 at 1.8V at a 1:1 ratio. Want to bump it to a 5:4 ratio, hence the need for DDR2-1000 speeds.

So, what do you recommend?

My FSB is locked into 400Mhz due to my overclocking of my Q6600 (8x400), so if I want to OC my RAM, have to play with the ratio. Currently at 1:1 for a DDR2-800 rating. If I want to go higher, the next ratio is 5:4, which is DDR2-1000, so I need memory that will do that.

My current memory isn't performance memory, so I doubt it will make DDR2-1000 even with more voltage. Would rather put it in my server and buy some performance memory instead.

What I was getting at is why do you want to run RAM at a 5:4 ratio versus a 1:1 ratio with all else being equal

I believe many people would argue that simply going with ram at a higher ratio will not unlock some magical performance that your current ram has been holding you back... in essence you could spend well over $100 to see a rather small benefit.

Of course if you can get the FSB any higher, that may be a worthwhile cause to get faster ram as scoop mentioned.

My suggestion....

Get these:
(1) Memory
(2) Cooler

That is what I have.
I have no problems running those 800 @ 1000 with 2.0V- 2.1V @ CL5.
If you want CL4, you might be able to get that @ 2.2V (I've never tried, never needed to).

Or you can buy the 1000 version of this memory BUT....
Voltages on the 1000 are 2.1V - 2.2V as against 1.8V- 1.9V for the 800.
Now you can run the 800 @ 1000 with those voltages AND have active cooling on them...

Price: 800 + Cooler ~= 1000.
