well as you can see this thing runs the like a dog. What else does win2k server load at startup that I can disable. I've disable sooo many services, deleted font's that I don't use so that windows doesn't load it at startup what else can I do. I'd getting tired of the performance but edo memory is expensive. thanks

I know this isn't the answer your loking for, but install linux on it and it will run alot better. Actually if thats all your doing with the machine, then I'd use freesco on it and it will run ALOT faster than it is currently.

As mentioned earlier you are much better off installing an extra 64mb of ram. Although W2k Server will "allow" you to intall on 64mb, it will simply refuse to install if you have anything less. Becareful when playing with the services make sure you note down what you disable and put to manual. Prefreably one by one. I once try to disable services that I don't think I need and end up with a lot of problems and I had to reformat and start again as I haven't written down what I played around with.

just get more ram or install freesco, i dont even want to think how slow your FTP would get with anyhting over 5 users.

actually you can install with less memory than that. You just have to edit like the setup.ini or txtseup.tif or something like that don't remember but I had 48mb on this thing before. if this thing used sdram I'd have at least 256 but alas edo is freaking expensive. OH well

yeah edo memory is too expensive, so ram upgrade is ruled out.

go with linux. if you dont need to access it (if all it does is sit in a corner) than why not linux? linux will perform better if u configure it properely. if youre new to linux check out freesco.org. i use it (even though im not that new, im just lazy and freesco is so easy).
