i took a bad hdd from a mac and put it in my pc, hoping to salvage a couple files that are absolutely vital to retrieve.

bios sees the hard drive...
windows device manager sees the hard drive...
'my computer' doesn't see the hard drive...

i'm assuming it's because of a formatting issue.

does anyone know of any programs that would allow me to open this drive and take the files that i need?

wrong forum. -Admin DrPizza

Macs use the a different filesystem so you won't be able to see it in My Computer. You can view these file in Windows by using a program such as HFSExplorer.

BTW, wrong forums.

Macs use the HFS+ filing system, that's why My Computer doesn't see it.

MacDrive is better than HFS Explorer, you can do a 1-2 week trial of it which should be all you need.

If you just need basic read support, HFS Explorer will do it, but Macdrive is a better choice.
