Need some 'Life' ideas

I've got the blahs lately. I want to start doing something with my life. I have no big interests, hobbies, or a strong determination to do anything though. I've been thinking about what I want to do with my life the past 5 or 6 years and can't come up with anything. Is there someplace I can look to try and get some ideas? Books, websites, anything?

I'm 21, Male, and live in Tucson AZ. The tricky part is I have no education and no job. If I did get a job it would have to be something I like, maybe even a life-changing type job. I want to live in a different place, not a different city or state necessarily, just a different place to live on my own. An apartment or something, I dunno. I need a change of scenery. Something other than Baghdad would be nice.

I really want to get my life started, i've been stuck in this rut for much too long. All I know is I don't want to live a normal kind of life working a 9-5 job until I'm 70 years old and retiring. I could get my GED and try and go to college but I still wouldn't have any idea what I'd want to do career wise. This isn't really about finding a job/career, but rather about finding a life to live in general. I'm doing a whole lot of nothing on a daily basis. I find ways to keep busy, but nothing interesting and nothing I like a whole lot. Where can I look to maybe get some ideas ?

Step 1. Finish your GED.

Step 2. Get your sh*t together.

Honest question... how much weed do you smoke and how much alcohol do you drink?

I agree with JS80
Getting an education isn't just about the learning, or the increased opportunities for careers that come later. It also helps you get into the groove of the real world, whatever that means.
Granted, this is what worked for me, and the same might not apply to you, but going to college would give you a new perspective on things.
Plus it's a great reason to move out of state :)

I would recommend getting your GED. You don't sound untintelligent, it should be easy. Then try a community college. To me, college is when you start finding out what you want to do in life. For some they already knew what they wanted to do and good for them. Then try out some jobs here and there on something you might possibly like and see if something sticks. By then you should have more knowledge and skills and therefore you have greater opportunities.

Get off your butt and get the ball rolling. It's amazing how much easier it is once that happens.

Fixed for the grammar nazi.

Grammar? WTF is that?

keep the thread on topic. "how much weed you smoke ad how much you drink" alcohol needs to be added to the sentence, otherwise it is implied that one can drink weed.

Gah... It's late. FO

Just checking on the OP's chemical consumption. In my experience, a total lack of motivation is usually related to depression or some sort of chemical abuse... alcohol or otherwise.

Enrolling in a CC or other class schedule won't fix the core problem if any of the above is true.

If there is no pot (or whatever) or over indulgence in alcohol then, as much as I hate to recommend it, the military might be the way to go for the OP.

try new things...just get out and try different stuff until you find something you like. you don't seem to be to intent on getting a lot of money, so don't focus on that. just get out and try different activities until you find something that interests you and then see where it takes you. also try to meet new people. people who are inspired by something tend to spread their enthusiasm to others, so you may be able to find something you enjoy doing through someone else. one thing i've learned about life so far is that changes like this seem like they should be these huge events or whatever in your head, but when it actually happens it's just like any other day, and it's just something relatively simple; you're probably like building it up to be something more daunting than it has to be. just get out there and live.

just a suggestion...

It sounds like you just want to blend in. If so, yes, get an education.
But if you really want to do something with yourself AND change the world, education is not necessary.

I don't argue getting an education might be my best bet right now. But, when I consider getting my education, I realize I'll just be stuck here until I could graduate, get a decent job, and have enough money to move out. That would take a minimum of 3 years. I've already got mega cabin fever as it is, and I'm desperately eager right now for a change of life/scenery.

You have no job and you're 21? How have you been eating and paying for your rent for the last 3 years?

'rents would be my guess. Living at home.

Isn't the Peace Corps a viable option?
