Need some LCD TV advice

GoingUp

Lifer
Looking for a small-midsized LCD TV for my bedroom. I am looking at the Panasonic and Sony 26" LCD TVs. I can get either for about $1000 off of Amazon. The Sony is the Bravia non-XBR model. What kinds of things do I need to worry about with LCD TVs? I plan to hook up Comcast digital cable to this thing. Are there any 26" LCD TVs youd recommend?

i got a soyo 32" lcd tv off of tiger direct awhile back, i think you can find them for under $1000 shipped. has DVI, 2 component inputs, 1200:1 contrast. im no expert when it comes to video quality, but i think this thing is great.

Badger fan btw? i go to madison

Yup I am 🙂

I'm not comfortable with TigerDirect, and I would also prefer to get a name brand TV.

Samsung 26" best one IMO. Has more inputs then the Sony. Besides Sony and Samsung typically use the same LCD panels anyways, just the Samsung has more inputs.

Oh ya model # is LNR268W.

Sony LCDs are better than most. However, they will run down ur pockets pretty quick. I suggest you try AVSForum for some different but equally good options (which are definitely there). Off the top, I can think of Toshiba Sharp and JVC. Just go to a store...see wht they have.
If I were you, i would spend 1000 or prefereably less on a 26".

If you have Tweeter in you area, I would HIGHLY (let me change that to better than NO Other Place) recommend it. They have the cheapest prices, and they will price match any store (sometimes even online). Their service has been great too. I got a Samsung 46" DLP from them a few months ago...and had to call the service guy couple of times...turned out it was a problem with my HDTV Cable box from time warner.

That said, if you go to any store...or have any models that u are eyeing, post it...and I can maybe comment on it... from my research while I was buying mine

do you mean that a LCD TV w/ a native resolution of 1366x768 can't do 1920x1080p, well of course.

They do however make LCD tv's that do 1080p including Sceptre and Westinghouse. Sizes 37"+

Can you post any more info about the Westinghouse and it being a Aquos panel? I cant find anything.

I've been waiting for LCD TVs to drop in price but they seem to be holding steady. I'd love to get a 32 inch but I'm waiting til they drop below 700 or 800 bucks.

We just got a 32" Sharp Aquos. Nice picture. Nice looking LCD TV. It is wall mounted and extremely thin. Cool. Good speakers & sound too.

The Westinghouse units were a good value and they also had a nice picture.

How much did you pay if you don't mind posting that kind of info

Only thing i could find was them comparing the 37" to the sharp 45" panel and saying it was the closest budget match.

So take w/ grain of salt.

http://froogle.google.com/froogle_clust...earch+Froogle&lmode=&addr=&scoring=mrd

it also looks identical sans a power led to the Westinghouse.

Given the choice I would get the Sharp, but they cost way too much.

personally i like the piercing brightness, among a lot of other perks, of plasmas a hell of a lot more than LCDs, but at such a small size you wont find a plasma. westinghouse gets my recommendation.

We have a 42" pio plasma in the living room but thinking of getting a 32" westinghouse lcd for my own room. Hear it's great but westinghouse's quality control is iffy. If you get a good set, keep it! Otherwise some sets have corner lighting issues. At least from what I've read on avforum.
