Shared memory video shouldn't hurt you at all for your use. The only time shared memory really makes a difference is with graphically intensive applications (games, CAD etc..) and multitasking between many different programs (if you have 256 megs of ram and you share 32 megs of memory you only actually have 224 megs of system memory which can hurt when multitasking). However, if you're only going to use your system for the internet, typing or video editing you should be fine.

Shared video memory is bad for gaming...

However, that doesnt seem like a problem for you..

Whats your budget and what models are u looking at?

Whatever your budget, do research. Because as far as i remember, low end compaq/hp lappys have integrated memory, but the dell laptops of the same price range dont ...(Inspiron 5100)

Good call on the celerons... i share that feeling.

Compaq Presario 2195US, HP ZE4560 or eMachines M5309 ;) All of them have 512 MB RAM, 40 GB hard drive (60 for the eMachines) and integrated 54g wireless..... ;)

check out a lower end dell inspiron 8600. you may get lucky and pick up a double free memory (ram) offer from dell depending what week you buy it, just make sure u pick up the 60gb 7,200rpm harddisk with it...besides that doesn't matter what else u customise on it. no matter what speed cpu, the 1mb cache on the pentium-m's makes short work of video editing!
