In the manual it says the following.
If you will be moving the boot drive containing the existing
Windows XP operating system to the Ultra133 TX2 card, the Ultra133 TX2
driver MUST be loaded on to this hard drive while it is still attached to your
existing hard drive controller. Do not attach this drive or any other hard
drive to the Ultra133 TX2 controller card before completing this step.

I haven't attempted this yet because I will be doing this on someone else's machine and it isn't here. BUt how do you install a driver in XP to a device that is not present?

Or am I totally misunderstanding?

thanks

Install the card but don't attach any drives to it until after the drivers have been installed. Once Windows has installed the drivers, you can shut down the PC and switch the drive from the on board IDE controller to the Promise controller.

OK, so it means to install the card, boot XP, then install the drivers. Once Device Manager shows no problems, shutdown, hook the HD to the controller card and then boot XP.

thanks for making it clear.
