Ok, I just want to know some stuff about this thing. I'm getting one from a friend to look over and use to see how I like it. Questions are as follows:

1. Up to what rpm can the laptop handle for the hard drive?
2. Has anyone installed windows xp pro with sp2 on one of these?
3. Does windows xp pro bog the laptop down?
4. Has anyone had any problems using wifi on this laptop and what pcmcia card did you use?
5. Is it really worth it to get a docking station? I found one for $5 not shipped buy it now on ebay....
6. Up to what size hard drive can the laptop handle without flashing/updating the BIOS.
7. Is there a stable update for the BIOS?
8. What ram fsb can the laptop handle?
9. Would I benifit by putting pc133 instead of pc100?
(I realize that pc133 runs a little faster but would I see an imporvment in performance if I chose to upgrade it. I have 512mb (maxed) of pc100 in it right now).

That's about all I have right now. If I think of anything I'll be sure to post it up. I'd appreciate some replies!

1. I have used a 5400 rpm seagate momentus 40gb hard drive in mine. Thier is no reason you couldn't use a 7200 rpm.

2. I have XP Pro on it with SP1, never tried SP2 as I don't want to break my only computer while I am traveling

3. XP Pro runs fine if you put a fast hard drive, and plenty of ram in the unit. I have 512mb, and turned off all the eye candy in XP. Runs great on my 650 600x

4. Wifi works fine. I use a generic 802.11b card

5. this is your own preference

6. I believe people have put up to 80gig drives in. Thier is no reason that wouldn't work.

7. The latest IBM bios available from the website works fine

8. PC100, the 600 series is very picky you can only used pc100 ram in it

9. see above

10. this is a great laptop, rugged, and compact. Only problem I have is a lack of a built in ethernet, USB 1.0, and relatively short battery life. You can buy higher capacity than OEM batteries online.

I have a 600x with 4200 rpm,
no difference in speed between XP pro and 98 SE. I have a 12 Gb HDD, 128mb ram, no problems. No BSOD.
Great laptop current, after my old man stepped on the T40 and broke the screen.
