Need some info on HD's

well, you'll notice a BIG difference moving up from 5400 to 7200. you'll notice a very minimal (if any) difference moving up from ata66 to ata100.

so the 7200 rpm drive is a much better option
 
7200RPM is a lot faster than 5400RPM, believe me, I have both in my drive. 60 gig 7200RPM western digtal is a lot lot faster than my 40gig 5400RPM drive (that's why I bought a 7200RPM drive to go along with my 5400RPM drive, just because it was too slow!)
