Headed down to Sarasota (flying into srq and renting a car) on business next week...going to have a couple of days off...and need some ideas on stuff to do...could stay anywhere from orlando to naples...Tried all the beach areas along the coast their on priceline and bid up too $70 a nite and didn't get anything(trying to save money for a real vacation coming up so don't wanna spend a whole lot)....

I can get a La Quinta on priceline in the gateway to the islands area near Ft Myers for $35 a nite...it's away from the beach but near the snibel captiva island areas....much to do around their...any snorkeling?

Just kinda looking to relax a bit haven't had much time off lately...

Any ideas? Single male in my late 20's if that matters much...

Try Iguana Mia mexican restaurant. Good food not too pricey should be able to eat good for around $20-25. Pretty much every kinda restaurant imaginable along US 41 S. Cleveland Ave. Ft Myers beach traffic can be evil. Think its a $4 toll to Sanibel Not sure havent been there in a few years, beaches there are much more private and not touristy but may have changed in past 8 years or so.

I live in Sarasota, so if you need any tips for the area I'd be happy to help... (did you come down to Sarasota last year sometime, or was that someone else?)

I've been to beaches up and down the coast of SW florida, and I still prefer the beaches here in town (my favorites are Siesta Key and Anna Maria Island) and Ft. Desoto Beach in south St. Pete.

You may be able to find a cheap place to relax on Anna Maria, I'd be happy to see what I can find.

hehe...it may have been me I did pass through last year.....
Well, I already got the La Quinta in ft. myers for a couple of nites...it was a bargain and I just couldn't seem to find a decent deal on a beach hotel espicially with the weekend dates...maybe I'll try and find something for next monday nite; the nite before my return..in the sarasota beach areas...I'll pretty much have all of tuesday to burn because my flight isn't until late.

Any good place to eat out by the airport?
