alright, so I've tried avsforum and the AT video forum, I figuer I'd get more hits here.

so here's what I have. Panasonic 32HL44 HDTV w/ HDMI in.
using a Gainward Ultra 650/TV Ti4200 w/ DVI out.
DVI to HDMI cable.

there is a connection because the tv work, but it's the resolutions that's giving me problems.
for the past few days, I've been trying to configuer powerstrip to make the picture right.
I've read a few guides and I keep hitting the same problem.
I can load PS3. select a new resolution, then the computer asks to reset.

now here's the thing. after reboot, you're suppose to go back in PS and actually pick the new res. you've previously selected. my problem is that res. is no where to be found. I can't pick it.

any help will be appreciated. I also have a Radeon9000Pro I can use, so if you guys think ATI is a better choice, lmk, I can swap it out.

thanks.

Ihave the same problem. Check the book that came with the teevee. Mine only supports a really low resolution. It sucks, cause I have to right click on the tiny bit of the task bar that actually shows to open, close, and minimize programs.

With my teevee, and yours if it is the same standard, will only have that resolution no matter what you do. Powerstrip wont help. I have researched this on different forums, and that is as far as I got.

If you get it to work, please post the results.

Best of luck to ya... I dinked around with my system for about two days. Never could get the resolutions to always be there after reboot. And when I did get the correct resolution running, I never could get it centered/stretched properly.

I finally gave up.

thanks for the replies, i checked, the tv can accept 480p, 720x480p. I can deg. get a picture on the tv, but always underscanned(?).

maybe i should just break down and get a 9800pro.

The only way ive seen this work is on TVs that actually have a VGA or DVI port on them with no converting cables. Then you just set it to the native rez with powerstrip.

Even then it doesnt look that good.

my problem is that res. is no where to be found. I can't pick it.

That means that it didn't work, so it won't be available. Outputting component is a heck of a lot easier.

Setting up a HTPC to a HDTV properly is a real hassle - I almost gave up, but it sooooo so worth it. The DVD quality just annihilates any set top player. Not to mention PC gaming on the big screen. I run UT2004 at 1776x1000 on my 50" HDTV

You should also give AVSForum another try. Whether it be searching or posting a new topic, I always find an answer there.
