I am currently upgrading from a barton 2500+@2.2ghz & Abit NF7-S to an AMD64 3000+ & DFI 250gb

I play alot of games and I currently own a PNY 6800gt.

Is there going to be a significant margin of change with the performance of the new componets, or it it going to be barely noticable?

I was playing a custom cs:s map today and the map was so huge I was getting 10fps with my 6800gt and 2.2 ghz cpu.

I saw a large increase in performance when I upgraded from my NF7-S R2/XP-M @ 2.3GHz to my current system. Aside from CPU/mobo all other equipment stayed the same.
 
Yes I think so! go look at some reviews. In games it will be 10-20% faster. if you overclock to ~3800/4000 levels it will be 50% faster
