A teacher wanted me to help him build his computer. Now, I haven't build one in two years, which was when I build my Athlon 1700+ machine. I've been looking around a bit, and I have some sort of an idea of what to get. I'm most likely going to order everything from NewEgg. It's around a $1700 budget, including everything, like monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse..etc. He was a Mac user, and converting over because, well, Macs suck and he wants to play games.
I don't have the time right now to post a parts list, I will in a bit since I need to leave for work, but in the meantime, any suggestions?
I wanted to go for an Athlon system, but those traditionally have more heat, so P4 would be preferred, simply for that reason, but if a relatively *quiet* cooling solution (not watercooled) exists, that would be nice (I know on my Athlon system, it's pretty loud, and I supposedly have a quiet Sunon and a pretty large heatsink (AX-7))
I'm also looking through other threads to see what other people are building, but I though that I might as well also make this topic.
