Story: My wife and I are shopping for some furniture for our new home. We went to this fancy furniture shop since they offer free in home design services. We thought that if they designed something we liked but didnt match our budget we could atleast get an idea of what type of furniture we could look for elsewhere.

So the price didnt match our budget but the lady designed this great floorplan. My wife distracted the lady and I took a quick picture of the floorplan with my camera phone. Now its only a 1.3MP camera so the pictures arent the greatest.

My question is can anyone help me out and make the pictures a little better? I dont have photoshop and the photo editing software I do have is kinda crappy. Thanks in advance!!

What exactly are you looking to have done? They look good enough to use as a layout to me...

That sucks of you. That person probably works on straight commission, and now you're going to screw her over. If you can't afford design help, then DIY. Don't waste the designer's time.

I completely agree with this. And I have personal experience with potential clients meeting with me and just taking my ideas to lowest bidder. It sucks, it wastes my time and money, and it's just plain unethical. You are using their service without paying for it.

I am a professional graphic designer and I always help out ATOT'ers with graphic stuff if I have the time, but I think I will make an exception in this case.

Its not like I had no intention on buying the furniture from them. Infact we did purchase a coffee table but the sofa/love seat ($8000) were just out of our price range ($5000). We just cannot justify spending $8000 on furniture when there are other things we need in the home. Sorry if you feel like we are "screwing" this lady over.

The key to good room design is the flow of traffic. Can people easilly get from point A to point B without needlessly back tracking around different furnature pieces. The final layout is of course a difficult problem to solve, but I hear it can be done. For example, look at the following layout of your room:

As you can see, it is nearly perfect.

But there are still two problem areas. I suggest you look around ATOT, as there seem to be experts here that know the solution.

Try asking Murphy Durphy.

$25 for the whole thing in A4 (about Letter size) within 24h.

EDIT: You PayPal me $15 now, I give you the file tomorrow (lot of homework right now, two tests tomorrow), you give me the other $10 when you've got it :).

EDIT2: In case you don't trust me, may the mighty mods of AnandTech smite me down in an eternal pit of bannihalation if I don't keep my end of the deal.

Then you shouldn't be trying to steal this salesperson's work. It's dishonest. If you designed a webpage or wrote a bit of code for someone on spec, and then they slipped it on to a USB key while you weren't looking, you'd be pretty pissed, wouldn't you?

My wife is an interior designer, and she used to get that crap all the time when she was doing custom kitchen design. Just know that by taking that picture, you are essentially taking money out of that woman's pocket.
